About me

The path to becoming an author was a long, winding, and sometimes dark path but here we are. Mike spent his time in college writing classes coming up with middle-grade books for each assignment. “There’s an innocence to writing books for a younger audience,” Mike says. “You don’t have to explore themes that are so dark in order to appeal to an older audience.” Besides, they’re fun and easy to write and Mike loves to spend his time writing stories that bring a smile to his face while writing them. You’ll find him typing and laughing on many occasions.

Stories are windows to new worlds where faith, fun, and friendship collide, inviting young readers to explore the wonders of life with a heart full of curiosity.

The story of

Mike Cannell

Mike Cannell is a children’s and middle-grade author who weaves faith, fun, and heartfelt life lessons into every story he tells. Drawing inspiration from his Christian faith, Mike creates realistic, adventure-filled tales where young readers can see themselves — navigating friendships, overcoming fears, and discovering hope in unexpected places. His books strike a balance between playful storytelling and meaningful themes, encouraging kids to embrace kindness, courage, and the power of forgiveness.

Whether crafting a whimsical backyard quest or exploring the challenges of growing up, Mike’s stories remind readers that faith is an everyday adventure. With relatable characters, plenty of laughter, and moments that spark thoughtful reflection, he invites children to see how God’s love is present in every chapter of life.

Mike is a software engineer of over 30 years and grew up in private Christian schools in Ohio and Florida. He has been married for over 30 years, has two married daughters, and, so far, three grandchildren.
